I ran across this 9-11 memorial a few days ago here at Bagram. The centerpiece of the memorial is a beam from the World Trade Center. This past May, GEN McCrystal (since replaced by GEN Petraeus) presided over the dedication, which you can read about here. I suppose memorials like this are intended to ensure people don't forget, etc.
It reminded me of just how long ago this all began. I also realized that when I leave here next Summer, it will be just short of the 10 year anniversary of 9-11 and the beginning of the War here. Has it really been almost 10 years?!
